Aims & Objectives


  • Preservation, documentation and publication of tribal rare unwritten medicinal and other herbal knowledge.
  • Documentation of the tribal cultural heritage and suggesting ways and means of preserving and promoting it.
  • Making a study of the tribal handicrafts and undertaking measures to revive and boost their handicrafts. Making such exercise income-oriented.
  • Giving boost to social and cultural activities by organizing cultural meets.
  • Development of tribal arts and artifacts.
  • Creating research facilities for students, academicians, sociologists, social analysts, social workers and planners, covering various aspects of tribal life.
  • Holding of cultural and literary meets, conservation of folk music and musical instruments.
  • Conduct of seminars and workshops.
  • Co-ordination with universities and other social and academic organizations.
  • Generation of vital data inputs on tribals of Jammu and Kashmir and other north western areas.
  • Codification of customary laws based on customs and rituals.
  • Identification of problems facing tribals in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Suggestions and recommendations to Government and other agencies pertaining to the uplift of the tribals in Jammu and Kashmir and at the central level.
  • Carving a place of pride for the tribals by promoting institutional and cultural exchange.
  • Any other work of research and training which is deemed beneficial to the tribals including health status of women and educational facilities for children.
  • Publication and dissemination of folklore, hereditary tales and other oral assets of the tribals besides other research work.
  • Plan for their vocational training and self-employment schemes.
  • Measures for educational advancement of tribals and upgrading them to a level where tribal student can face various competitive examinations with confidence.

The Gujjars are a distinct ethnic community having their language, literature, customs, art architecture, glorious history and the tradition but have been rendered backward and poor in the course of time with a very low rate of literacy and have largely taken to nomadic life with a view to attaining the objectives of helping the Gujjar community of the State and to improve its lot educationally, socially, culturally and to catch-up with the other sections of the Society, this Trust has been formed on 01-07-1992.

The sole aim of the Trust is to promote socio-economic cultural and educational interests of the Gujjars and to achieve the object to do the Interlaid the following:-

  1. To give scholarships, stipends, books etc; to the poor and needy Gujjar students. These scholarships shall be floated in the names of eminent social reformers and activists of the community.
  2. To provide coaching facilities for the coaching of the Gujjar students for various competitive examinations in and outside the State.
  3. To establish or aid educational institutions engaged in the educational upliftment of the Gujjars.
  4. To provide economic assistance to the persons (whether Gujjar or otherwise) who engage themselves in the social, economic, educational, linguistic, historical or cultural development of the community.
  5. To arrange printing or reprinting the books and historical documents pertaining to the Gujjars.
  6. To conduct orientation programme for the Gujjar to motivate them for self-employment schemes by engaging themselves in various indigenous trades and occupations.
  7. To establish technical training centers and to impart training to needing students of the community.
  8. To strive to achieve the interaction of the Gujjars of the country.
  9. To do all such things and to perform all such acts as may be necessary and proper for the achievement of any or all the above objects.
  10. To establish/ construct a suitable building/ buildings in furtherance of educational cultural activities as enumerated above.
  11. To make arrangements for celebrations of Gujjar festivals.
  12. Without prejudice to the generality of above and for the effective carrying out of the above objects, the Trust shall have the powers to acquire, receive, and hold property of the kind including securities and negotiable instruments, to construct and maintain building, including the right to alter and improve them and to equip them suitably to manage, sell, transfer, mortgage or otherwise dispose off or deal with the property of any kind belonging to Trust, to raise funds including funds by borrowings upon furnishing securities or the otherwise and in such manner as may be deemed fit for the on behalf of the Trust fund and endowment in which the Trust may be interested.
